I have two posts to catch up on, so I'll just cut to the chase today...
My things just for me today are...
I didn't want to cook at all last night. And we'd been cramped in the house all day due to a crazy bad migraine I couldn't shake. So all I wanted was some creamy jalepeno and their fajita beef taco salad from Chuy's on their lovely outside patio. I love this time of year where there is a cool breeze but the air is still warm. I could sit outside forever. And we basically did. We had to wait twice as long for a table to sit on the patio and it was totally worth it. We had a blast playing in the front grassy lawn of Chuy's and everyone enjoyed the food (.
Moriah got a tired, as you can see, at the end. But girlfriend loved her some tortillas, beans and guac. It's rough being 9 months. Only not really.
saying yes to a massage.
Chris got me a massage table for Mother's Day this year (I know, #hubsoftheyear #imarriedup #hecanttopthis #sendyourhubsthiswasyforgiftideas or whatever other hashtag you would want to say). And he is amazing at offering massages. But I feel so bad taking him up on it because I know his days are long and he has to get up at 4am every day. But today I said yes when he offered.
movie in bed.
This is going to sound so silly, but one of my favorite things at hotels is to rent a movie. I know it's ridiculous. But it's a fun treat (yes, to pay $13.95 for a movie). So I had the fun idea that we do that last night. Given that Chris is Dave Ramsey Jr and doesn't really like movies, this wasn't such a fun idea for him but he went along with it. We don't have a TV in our room, so he set up the computer and streamed a movie from iTunes. It was lovely.
What I'm learning so far? It's the little things. A few little choices a day that affect no one can totally make your day. And looking for things that bring me joy has caused me to have more joy. I'm so thankful for this challenge. A much needed fresh perspective.
