How to POST A COMMENT

I have had several people ask me lately how to post a comment.
I did a blog about a year ago on how to post a comment, but I have recently changed to IntenseDebate for commenting because I like the format better-- it fosters better discussion with people commenting. And I like this to be a discussion.

Let's make a deal: I'll write out these instructions and you start commenting more. I know all of you with blog readers (or whatever they are called) have to do some extra steps to comment. But I love it so much more if it is conversation and not just something I put out there. Let me know your thoughts. Let me know you love my little girl. Let me know even if you disagree with something I say. OK, Deal?

Step by step instruction on how to post a comment:

First, let me just say that it is way easier that it looks. I'm writing out every single step and assuming you know nothing about commenting. But seriously it will take you all of 2 seconds to comment.

Basic Comment:
1. Go to the blog (http://www.thekisers.blogspot.com/)
2. Scroll to the bottom of the blog and you will see something that looks like this:
"Posted by Becky Kiser
at 9:21 AM Comments (1)"
3. Click on "Comments (1)" and that will take you to the Comment Page. Note: You will still be able to see the full blog from the comments page if you scroll up.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the comments-- you will see a header that says "Post a new comment..." with a box underneath that.
5. Click in that box and type your comment.

Now you have to identify yourself, and you have a few options:

Guest (most used):
1. Click in the box below "name" --> Type your name.
2. Click in the box below "email address" --> Tye your email address. This will not be shown publicly, but it is required to post a comment. I won't even be able to see it.
3. OPTIONAL-- Click in box below "Website" --> Type your website. NOTE: If you type your website anyone will be able to click on your name once your comment is posted and go to your website. So only list that if you are OK with that.

Finally, click "Submit Comment" button just below the website box.

Congrats! You have posted a comment! :)

Anonymously:
Same as above steps 1-5

BUT, when it comes time to identify yourself, follow these steps:
1. Click in the box below "name" --> TYPE ANONYMOUS (or you can pick a clever anonymous name). This name will be shown, so pick something that will not give yourself away.
2. Click in the box below "email address" --> Tye your email address. This will not be shown publicly, but it is required to post a comment. I won't even be able to see it.
3. OPTIONAL-- Click in box below "Website" --> DO NOT TYPE YOUR WEBSITE. If you do this, it will link back to your website that you list, so people will be able to see who you are.
4. Finally, click "Submit Comment" button just below the website box.

Congrats! You have posted a comment! :)

Login through OpenID, IntenseDebate or Wordpress:
I honestly don't know since I don't have any of these accounts. My guess is if you have been able to get one of these accounts then you are tech savvy enough to figure it out. ;)

Replying to another comment:
1. Under someone's comment is a button that says "reply," click that.
2. Click in the text box and type away.
3. You will have to do the same steps as above to identify yourself.
4. Click "submit comment" and it has been submitted.

Subscribing to comments and replies:
When you post a comment at the bottom left you have an option "Subscribe to Comments and Replies." It automatically selects nothing. BUT if you would like to know when new comments have been posted, you can change you setting by...
1. Click here it says "None" next to "Subscribe" and select what you would like-- "all new comments" (you'll be notified any time someone new comments to the blog post) or "replies" (notify you when people reply to your comment).

Finally, do I post all comments?
Yes I do. With a few exceptions.
I post comments that I do not agreed with.
I post comments that have hurt my feelings.

I WILL NOT POST COMMENTS IF...
-They attack someone else that has commented. You can make fun of me and attack me, but you can't attack my readers. It's just not OK. I treasure them too much.
-If it's inappropriate. I get to be the judge on that.
-If it is derogatory in nature-- this can be about someone in your life, someone in my life, a celebrity... you name it. We aren't going to play that game here.

Really that's pretty much it. I want my readers to know that whether or not we see eye to eye, your opinion and your thoughts matter to me. I want to hear them. I want to be challenged.

Hope that helps!
