Hi and thanks for stopping by! I'm Becky Kiser. I'm a wife, mom to 3 girls, writer, speaker, and founder of Sacred Holidays. I love Jesus and desire to see women follow Him more fully as we go hard after Him and what He has called us to.

Cousins week has kept me from doing a single bit of work, I have missed every single update on social media from you all, my sink (and surrounding counters) is constantly full of dirty dishes I swear I just washed, my washer and dryer haven’t stopped running, we haven’t had bedtimes, and I have received very strange looks and comments every where we go with 5 girls 8 and younger in tow... and I wouldn’t trade a single second of it. We’ve had the very best time with my nieces here from NYC and we still have two days to go! ❤️😍🙌🏼

What was your fave memory in the summer as a kid?

I think my faves were spending a week at my grandparents houses and riding bikes to the pool with my bro (with money to spend on concessions—hello #fundip 😍, I miss you and my 8-year-old metabolism 😂).

Love this post so much from @jenniesallen: Do the work in front of you well. Don’t wait for a magical passion to drop into your life. I found my passions by doing a lot of things I wasn’t passionate about. And my character was built in the search–there never seems to be a perfect destination. Even when you find and do what you love, it turns out it is still just a lot of work. If you have legit questions for God, then go grab yourself this workbook ASAP. Not just questions about God, but questions for God. Maybe ones you’ve never felt confident or comfortable to ask because you “shouldn’t” “put the Lord your God to the test.” But the fact is your questions have remained. And the truth is, your God can handle them. He welcomes our questions along with our faith.

You all know @bethmoorelpm is the best Bible Study creator of all time, but this is unlike anything she has ever done. It’s more than a Bible Study, although you will tear your way through your Bible. It has felt as probing, awakening, and healing as counseling. It’s so very good y’all.

Also, if you grab the study, pace yourself. Don’t rush through it. Give yourself grace on completion. Do as much as you need each day—whether that’s a full session, just a paragraph, or multiple sessions. The aim is following God, not a check box timeline. Stick with it. Don’t quit on yourself. The parade was cancelled. The festival was cancelled. The pool party got rained out. But we still managed to have a mostly awesome day. Made red, white, and blue Swedish pancakes (my Mamaw’s family recipe from Sweden). Played in the rain... until it cleared and finally got to swim. Made 4th Fruit Kabobs. And at 9:10 and everyone in PJs and tucked it for a cousins slumber party, I made everyone get in the car because we had to find fireworks on Fourth of July.

And let’s all remember as we scroll our feed that’s full of fun and fireworks, that most are posting the highlights of their day. Most can’t post the hard. Most hard things have to be saved for face-to-face. But we can celebrate the highlights with one another, knowing we all have our days were you have to open all the downstairs windows because you burnt the first few rounds of Swedish pancakes. Hypothetically speaking of course. 🤣😂🤣😂

Here’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned from you and the thing I celebrate most about you this year: you are patient in letting God’s story unfold but also you are willing to let the narrative evolve into unexpected directions.

I’ve seen you patiently twist around many tight corners, and merge onto on ramps... and off exit ramps. I’ve watched you turn for what you thought was a uturn that ended up turning into one of those loopty-loo things that spin you just left or right instead into a totally new direction which just sends you back.

Here’s what I know about you, Dad. You have always been the very best at directions in our family. Back when Key maps were a thing, I called you a living key map. You have a way of seeing the bigger picture but also knowing all the streets that cause all those lines that look and feel like chaos to most. You know every peek point of traffic (and where there is a @starbucks to rest in until the next road calls).

So my hope for you this year is that as you continue your drive on the story God’s written you, that you’d look up and see the illustrations He is painting alongside the story. That you savor the view in front, what is still insight in the rear view mirror, and whoever fills the seats next to you each moment.

This is the summer to BE BRAVE! As I shared in part of the email we sent out yesterday, I’ve been focusing on that with my girls this summer—to choose to be brave. Right now that looks like: learning to flip into the pool at 36 (I’m currently an awesome back flopper), downloaded the couch to 5k app (baby steps, hopefully I’ll start using it any day now...), and I’m working on a framework for a stand alone Bible Study to pitch to publishers! 😬😳😀🙌🏼👊🏼

I’d love for you to join me this month as we focus on this verse. It was the charge given to the Israelites just before they entered the promised land. Because new territory and all that is unknown is scary. We all need to be reminded to be brave not because of some awesomeness we innately carry but because our God is The One and Only Way, Truth, and Life! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Today was a bit of a bust and by 9am, as we set in a clinic to get meds for 3 of the 5 of us, we decided to do a #fathersday do over next weekend. 😳🤣🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

@cjkiser has been such a trooper today and taken care of his girls just like he does every other day of the year, even though he was one of the ones sick. He celebrated by making lots of tea, refilling OJ, folding laundry, and washing all the dishes. He did get to squeeze in a baseball lesson as we watched the our Cardinals play the Cubs.

This is Chris: what you see is what you get. There aren’t different versions of him. He is simple and steady. He is a rock and someone you can trust to do what he says. Watching him be a dad is one of my favorite sights ever. Many people pay him on the back apologetically when they find out he has three girls. I love that it makes him so mad each time because he loves being a girl dad. And he is one of the most intentional girl dads on the planet. He is constantly trying to teach them something—from reading the Bible before bed, telling them how beautiful they are, how to do math that’s way over their heads, and all the dance moves only our family knows he has. ❤️ He is the most present dad, and chooses his girls over a faster career track that would require more than he is willing to give, silly hobbies, or really anything that takes time away from #teamkiser. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Chris, there is literally no one on the planet I’d rather have by our sides. You constantly kneel down to our level to help us see things more clearly. 😘

This is our 7th summer of infant survival swim classes. I was terrified to do this at first. I’d seen all the scary videos of kids getting tossed head in and immediately took the judgmental position. Then I saw no matter how intention a parent is or how undistracted you think you would be, it just takes a second for a very serious or even life threatening situation to happen.

So we signed up with Ms Glendy 7 summers ago and haven’t regretted it once. I can’t recommend all survival swim instructors but I know our Ms Glendy has saved countless lives and heartaches because of her time in the pool the past 35 years.
.
All my girls could float on their back for more than 15 minutes and kick across the pool before they could walk. All have a very healthy respect for water. And, contrary to my biggest fear, all are completely obsessed with and love swimming (we believe mermaids are a real thing in our home).

Isn’t it wild that Chan, just turned three a few weeks ago and can do this?! Ms Glendy is amazing.

This summer be oh so careful. None of us, not even kids in swim or survival swim classes are immune to situations. If your kid can’t swim, put them in a jacket and/or get lessons. If you have a pool or live by an ocean/lake, use every precaution possible. Not a single life is worth whatever might inconvenience you. Having a pool in our backyard is the most fun thing ever, but it is also terrifying knowing the risk it is for young kids.
