We are so thrilled to announce that WE ARE NINE WEEKS PREGNANT, due August 14, 2010!
For you “I only look at blog posts that have pictures” people, here you go:
This is the ultrasound from this past week. Here the baby is about the size of a large green olive (about an inch long). It's incredible because at this point all the major organs are already there, they are just continuing to develop! Isn't that amazing?! The baby is the blob in the middle. The round thing to the right is it's head and the rest is it's body. So cute huh?! :)
For you “I want more details now!” people, here you go:
Most of you know that I’ve had health issues for 10 years and doctors had always told me that it could take me years to conceive, if I was able to conceive at all. Knowing that we would start trying the end of November (after I left my job), we started praying. Praying for a miracle. This Thanksgiving was my actually 10 year anniversary for having my disease. We prayed and prayed that the Lord would bring us a miracle.
We’ll friends, He did! :)
It has already been a journey in such a short amount of time.
Our first doctors appointment was 4 weeks ago. We actually thought I was 7 weeks pregnant at the time. The ultrasound showed that my sac (what the baby was in) only measured at 5 weeks. The doctor said one of two things was happening: either I was about to miscarry or I conceived later than I had thought. It was not at all how we had expected that appointment to go. We went home and cried many tears and petitioned God for another miracle.
This past week we got one! We went in for our second ultrasound and the doctor immediately said, “Good size, strong heartbeat! Measuring at 8 1/2 weeks, due August 14.” We took a massive deep breath and marveled at the miracle of that sweet baby’s heartbeat thudding away. It was breathtaking!
There are several verses we are praying over our little life and we’d love for you to pray them as well:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes...” Jeremiah 29:11-14a
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139: 13-16
Many more updates to come! We can't wait to share the stories and videos of how we told all our family at Christmas. I promise this blog won't become all about the baby, but I also can't wait to share this journey with all of you!
